Words of wisdom are from people who not only knew what they were saying but who also knew how to say it well.
Quotes from the world’s greatest thinkers are timeless. Not only they are still relevant today, they can be aptly applied to blogging as well.
I have recently discovered a few gems of wisdom that I’ll like to share with you for a bit of inspiration and motivation for your daily blogging.
Timeless Blogging Tips from Non-Bloggers
- They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel. Carl W. Buechner
- My opponent can compress the most words into the fewest ideas of anyone I’ve ever known. Abraham Lincoln
- First learn the meaning of what you say, and then speak. Epictetus
- What is written without effort is in general read without pleasure. Samuel Johnson
- To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others. Anthony Robbins
- What is the shortest word in the English language that contains the letters: abcdef? Answer: feedback. Don’t forget that feedback is one of the essential elements of good communication Unknown
- Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something. Plato
- To listen closely and reply well is the highest perfection we are able to achieve in the art of conversation. François de la Rochefoucauld
- You can tell whether a man is clever by his answers. You can tell whether a man is wise by his questions. Naguib Mahfouz
- Nothing gives an author so much pleasure as to find his works respectfully quoted by other learned authors. Benjamin Franklin
The quotes above is the work of Sueblimely’s 50 Timeless Blogging Tips. It’s another masterpiece I couldn’t help but to respectfully quote and reproduce it here and I hope you’ll enjoy the rest of the 40 timeless blogging tips from the greatest people the world has ever seen.
If there is one wisdom which is the mother of all wisdom, let it be this one
Of all parts of wisdom the practice is the best.

Number seven and nine are my favorites, especially seven :)
So many great quotes out there, one would find it extremely difficult to pick his favorite!
Rajaie AlKorani’s last blog post..Buzz Theme Officially Released
Wow, those are very inspiring indeed. My favorite among those that you posted is this “First learn the meaning of what you say, and then speak.”
I’ve seen a lot of blogs whose authors claim they know everything about the topic and even post “tips from a guru” when in fact they have very little knowledge about their chosen niche.
But my all-time favorite quote which can be related to blogging is this: “The elevator to success is out of order. You’ll have to use the stairs, one step at a time.” A friend sent it too me not too long ago, and it’s a nice quote especially if one is just starting a blog. ;)

@Rajaie AlKorani – Yup, #7 happens to be my favorite too. Looks like your theme is ready, huh?
@Lucas – Well, empty tin makes the most noise if you ask me.
Thanks for sharing another piece of wisdom. It’s true that there is no shortcut to success, everything has to be taken one step at a time.
This is really nice collections you got here. Thanks for sharing this one.

Hi Yan!
Good to see your flow of useful info hasn’t slowed. I was struck by number 4. It is terribly true that what is written without effort is unlikely to be read with pleasure. It is a timely reminder to us to ‘put in the effort’ when we write!

Quote 7 and 9 are great. Thanks for providing such inspirational quotes. I guess the quotes of these thinkers applies to everything…even blogging.

@Rhys – Look like you hang around bloggingzoom quiet often, huh? Good to see you again, Rhys. It’s true that you can easily tell how much effort is put into an article.
@Ganesh – Glad to see you around, Ganesh. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Hello Yan: Very motivating indeed. I love these motivating statements. Here are a couple: “Whether you think you can or think you can’t — you are right” by Henry Ford “Dont be afraid to take a big step if one is indicated. You cant cross a chasm in two small jumps” by David Lloyd Feorge the former Prime Minister of England. BTW applying item 10, I hope you got pleasure by reading review of this blog in my site. Thank you again.
@Raj Krishnaswamy –
I love this quote. Thanks for sharing them with us. Oh ya, it’s more than a pleasure, Raj. You are too generous with your words if you ask me. I appreciate it and thank you.
Very inspirational. Will have to read the rest of them.
Thanks Yan for another great post.

Hi Yan,
My favorite is #9.
Hey I got one for you “What we learn to do we learn by doing”
Peter
Looking at the title, I thought it would be more heavy-weight tech-speak, but what a refreshing surprise!!
My personal favourite is No 9, but most of the quotes are just as meaningful and profound. Thanks for sharing Sueblimely’s list!!
I have to say, I love this post! I was expecting you to write about what most other bloggers write when it comes to “blogging tips”. Then as I started reading the post it caught my by surprise. Good job!
Sly from Slyvisions dot Com
@Work At Home Ideas – Thanks, Peter. I like that one and it happens to be one of my mantra. As they always say, “Practice makes perfect”.
@Center Parted – You are welcome. Welcome to thoushallblog.com.
@Sly from Slyvisions dot Com – What a pleasant surprise to see you here, Sly. Where have you been? I’m seeing less of you on your blog in recent weeks, taking a long deserved break?
Wow.. great compilation dude… statements are very monumental… ;-)
Melvin’s last blog post..The Importance of StartUp Income
Great quotes Yan, I like 7 and 10
Blogging can be a tiring experience if you are only doing it for the
money, but fun if you just want to spread knowledge and help others.
@Larry – Bingo! That’s what I have been preaching. Money is the by-product of what you love to do, it shouldn’t be the primary motivation in this ever so competitive market.
By the way, where have you been, Larry? Haven’t been seeing you lately…
@Yan –
Taking it easy for a week, Started a new blog and watching the Olympics.
I got kind of burn out trying to post everyday, might do it every other day now.
My rankings in Alexa suffered but oh well,
I am here for the long haul
Larry’s last blog post..Increasing your traffic? Slow and steady may win this race
yeah feedback is very important, both giving and recieving.
I like 9 and 10. It gives me so much joy when I have an article referenced by other great blogs. :)
EmmaB’s last blog post..The Blogging Experiment inspired by Entrecard
@ Yan – To be honest with you I just totally got lazy. It was summer and I thought that nobody would really visit it anyway. But I was wrong. Now I see that it was the biggest mistake ever. Well I’m just glad that now I’m finally back. ;)
Sly from Slyvisions dot Com’s last blog post..Quick Links – August 18, 2008
@Sly from Slyvisions dot Com – Well, whatever it is, I’m glad you are back into it. I thought you were giving up on it already when I saw your post looking for writers or something.
Way to go, Sly and hope you do reach your goal of 1000 subscribers in 90 days.
Very good post and inspiring quotes..
Waiting for another great post from you…

Great tips you’ve given Yan,
The quotes are extremely good and inspiring to me.
“My opponent can compress the most words into the fewest ideas of anyone I’ve ever known”
I guess politics never really changes…Great quote.
Joe´s lastest post..Metal Cable Covers: What Makes Them Different
Oh my goodness – I love them all! How can I choose? Um… #8 & #9 are speaking to me most today although I find myself nodding at pretty much anything Plato had to say.
Don’t you wonder sometimes, however, how these people got quoted in the first place? And who from our time history will deem as quote-worthy? And are these quotes simply brilliant thoughts lifted from the midst of gibberish ramblings, or are these folks just damn eloquent and wise (in which case I find myself feeling somewhat resentful – ha!)…
A truly enjoyable post, Yan, as always!

Good tips. but..This article looks like same as of Mextena’s Top 100 Blog Tips of all Time: http://mextena.com/1095-top-100-blogging-tips-all-time.html
I think Jijo Sunny wrote those tips in a better way.
Anyway, Keep blogging.
