I wrote an article back in Feb. about increasing Technorati authority with Top Commentator. To date, it is the most popular article on my blog.

However, since writing the article, the spam that has come about in an effort to attempt to get on to my Top Commentator list is so high that I couldn’t even begin to count. So with that, I’d like to stress what you already mentioned and say that ensure you really are leaving quality comments. Comments that are just the right number to get on the Top Commentator list and are short often get deleted.

Guess what! My http://biznz.org “Monetize Your Site” jumped to PR2 while we were posting about this. This amazed me because it skipped PR1 and went to PR2 in one hit - Whoopee!!!

Noticed something interesting about this, on XP with F/Fox, it doesn’t indicate the PR until all the widget stuff has finished loading, but with my new computer using IEx on Vista, the PR indicates immediately.

I even scored some internal PR with this page “Here’s a Quick Way to Rocket Your Site to No 1 in Google”, now ranking at PR1.

So all this careful attention to link quality and placement has paid off big-time.

OpTempo is a PR4 and I use Top Commentator as well. I also allow you to use almost any anchor text you want so you don’t have to use just your name.

I’m also looking at using other dofollow plugins there in the next few weeks, probably one that turns on dofollow after 5 approved comments.

@ Yan: Well… net render must be drinking a little to much these days! LOL. Umm it started a few days ago. I think you were doing something with the layout at the time. If my mind serves me correctly, it all started shortly after you added the featured post image. I could be wrong though.

I took a look at your code and it looks like there might be an issue with the width set on something like line 451 in your style.css file.

It looks as if the total width of the page is a maximum of 916px. However, your content area is set at 852px. If you do some quick math, those “latest” areas are all set at 250px. You’ve got three. That means your style sheet is trying to force 1500px into a 852px box. needless to say it won’t fit so the browser auto drops the content until it does fit.

Try messing with the width attribute. As for Macs… I love them. In fact I love to design on them. But ANYONE who builds websites or tangles with code, will agree, that Macs always insert some nonsense that creates a mess in 90% of non Mac browsers. Yeh… a night mare. Anyway here is your code… I think its on line 451.

Okay so my typo makes me look dumb… LMAO!!! 1500px… I’ must be the drunk one!

The missing parts to the note above…

You’ve got padding set a 15px and margins set at 24px and 40px. The complicated math says the total squeeze is 1500px… not that you have it set at 1500px. Sorry for the lack of accurate explanation on the first go round. :-)

@Piss Biscuit - Now I’m more confused than ever before and if I remember it correctly I didn’t mess or change any of this code at all. In fact, I completely put my trust in the code since I’m purchasing a premium theme, the developer should have looked at this issue earlier.

I guess the problem started when I add an adsense to my sidebar a few days ago but after a quick check on my neighbor’s PC, everything looks perfectly fine. What IE version do you use, PB? You know it’s kind of weird that I’m not seeing what you are seeing.

It’s nice of you to check on it and I really appreciate you take the time to explore and explain to me but I dare not change any of the code lest I mess it up further. The fact is I’m not a coder and I know little about CSS.

My site’s home page sits on PR4 for a year, I only notice mild changes on pages deeper within. The blog is still new though but the recent change gave nice PR’s to most posts but none to its blog-home page, must check robots.txt if it’s not disabled but it shouldn’t be.

*** What I have noticed; my blog is DoFollow (nofollow free) and the new PR addition took place mostly in the posts with comments! Which could be a good news in dofollow links matter, well hopefully!

@Rado - Oh yes, I finished the bottle..:-) but no much of real celebration actually. Anyway, if I understand your concern, I guess it’s hell of a climb from PR4 to PR5 (something which I’m going to write soon). Is that what you are hoping, Rado?

As for the inner pages, the ones with the PR are the ones with the most links pointing to it, I doubt the no. of comments has any significant weight to it (I might be wrong). That’s all the reason why internal linking is important for SEO and PR in particular.

@Rhys - Oh…then I must have added the wrong site, isn’t this yours “WeBlog.biznz.net”? or you prefer me to add the other site of yours?

@Larry - Congrats, Larry for your new PR and yes, you surely are doing it right with all your guest-posts on other blogs. Those links pointing back to your site does make all the difference. Your strategy really works well in your favor.

@Rado - We all want to have a higher PR but it really takes more than just building quality links, there are a lot of other factors to take into consideration. I learn it somewhere getting a PR3 is the easy part, moving onto PR4 is much tougher than the first 3.

I hope I could write something on that but I’m certainly no authority when it comes to PR. I’m still picking my pieces along the way.

You have tons of images on your site, Rado. Have you ever considered getting yourself a photo blog or something with better design structure SEO-wise? Just my 2….

@AP - I’m glad to see you again, AP. The thing is this, when I do my blog commenting, the very first thing I look for is whether there’s an option to subscribe to the followup comment.

The reason is that I’d not want to leave a comment and forget about it the next time around. Unless, if there is really an important agenda for me to follow and I’ll bookmark the site and come back to see if the site owner did response to my comment. Believe me, it’s a real time-consuming.

I need the dofollow! It is not too easy to receive a better traffic to a newly created blog for example like mine, it’s barely 2 weeks old. Or to get, finally, commentators getting involved. For now I focus on creating more of a new content, one page per day at least, I also comment out there on community blogs from time to time and the fruit should come to me sooner I believe. Thank you Yan for the advices, you would be missed not to be here.

This post is inflating with our comments, so what about placing this list on a Page with the title you mentioned, PR-List and you can keep this post for commenting + linking back to the mentioned page?

Does anyone have any advice on how to transfer the blogger blog to wordpress and a good place for me to get a crash course on wordpress and how to set it up making it look nice and neat like this blog with all the bells and whistles? Also, I did a W3C.org check on my blog and I had hundreds of error messages telling me I should be using & instead of < for my html coding. Anyone know what a cure for that is? And one more question: Do I need to set up a sitemap for my blog and submit it to google webmaster? Sorry for all the questions I figured I would ask and start some more conversations. Maybe I should have went to a forum but it could start some good conversations.

thanks for the info Yan and taking the time to email me. I will most likely move into the self hosted for wordpress as it seems to by such a great platform for blogs. As far as the error messages go I was told it sort of deters google from drilling deeper into your pages if those errors arent fixed…. Anyway thanks again.

I think you may be the only one to have mentioned this. I too am on several top commenters lists but they do not show up on Technorati, some do some do not.

The other factor seems to be once you are on that list, Technorati won’t count you twice. So after 180 days that link will drop off your authority.
