Stop! Step Back and Think! by Miss Gullible

by Yan

First thing first, though this is a sponsored article, I wasn’t too sure if a review of missgullible.com was a good idea after all.

It’s always my belief that a review would be more meaningful if it adds value to my readers. Otherwise, it will defeat the purpose of why I’m blogging in the first place.

That said, upon checking out her blog, I quickly realized that there is a message we can all take home today

…that internet is full of people who are preying on the next gullible victims.

Yes, we all hear it too often but let this simple review be a good reminder to all of us that if it sounds too good to be true, it’s probably a scam.

The Beginning

It all started with her desire to escape from the daily 9-5 grind and start an animal sanctuary to care for the abandoned animals. What a noble act if you ask me.

But alas, as money is the root of all evil and the lack of it, led Miss Gullible into  an endless journey of finding the next-too-good-to-be-true internet opportunities (read: scam) and repeatedly fell for them.

Miss Gullible (aka Catherine) is, for lack of better words, the ‘victim of all scams, master of none‘….from breast enlargement, weigh loss scam, pyramid investment, online casino,  network marketing, you name it…..she was a loyal victim of all the hype.

For someone who was scammed at an early age of 13 and fell for the biggest scam which led her into a debt cycle, Miss Gullible is deemed to be an authority on the subject.

It’s only upon waking up from the reality, did she wrote her personal journey from zero to hero and documented them all into a pretty interesting blog aptly called missgullible.com.

…..I thought it would be good to try and save others making the same mistakes I have made. I also found it very therapeutic to write down all my experiences…..

Though it is a simple blog in need of a little makeover, she goes to great lengths to show how it would be possible to get taken for a ride, how to spot them and what to do if you are being scammed. All out of her own frustrating experience of which I can hardly miss her sense of truthfulness and sincerity.

In My Honest Opinion

On a personal level, I’m yet to cross path with any scammer but I can understand why people are getting scam of their money.  They are really smooth talkers and persuasive con artists who really know ‘how to push your hot button.’ It makes it that much easier if you are in a hurry and when greediness take over your senses.

You fool me once, you are a fool. You fool me twice, I AM a fool

Yan Susanto

However, upon reading her journal, I arrived at a conclusion that the single cause of her being scammed ever so repeatedly was her impatience to make money online that kinda blinded her sense of intelligence. Yes, she is a dream chaser who knows what she wants, and a risk taker too who is good at failing to differentiate between a foolish risk and a calculated one.

Donald Trump vs Miss Gullible

On a flip side, such characteristic or personality is the ingredient of any successful entrepreneur and I’m pretty sure even Donald Trump will agree on it. The only difference between Donald Trump and Miss Gullible is the fact that she risked it all on borrowed money which was not a wise thing to do.

Just My 2 Cents

Design makeover aside, despite all the good resources, there is an unhealthy sense of emptiness around her blog which is evident by the no. of response to each of her articles. The wisest thing to do now is to promote it either via blog commenting or submit her best articles into article directory. Either way, she can’t afford to be passive anymore.

All in all, if she can turn missgullible.com into a one-stop solution for any aspiring scam victims, there is a huge potential to turn this niche into cash generating machine that will take her closer to her dream of owning an animal sanctuary.

So the next time you are presented with the not-to-be-missed opportunity disguised in fancy sales letters or persuasive copywriting, pause before you push that button and think of missgullible.com.

Otherwise, you’ll pretty soon be in a debt cycle and starting another gullible site teaching the next gullible not to be gullible. Interesting cycle, is it not? and judging by the sheer number of people getting scammed each day, I should have probably done my research on how many such sites actually exist…

…..now give me a second, I think I’ve won a contest worth $100,000, it’s in my email. Eerr, Miss Gullible, are you there?

Shh! You are giving away the secrets of internet marketing. :) if you tell everyone the truth that they can’t make money while sitting around doing nothing I won’t make any affiliate sales.

Good review Yan I enjoyed it and will be checking out Ms. Gullible’s site.

Hey Adam,

Oops, did I really let the cat out of the bag? Whatever it is, there are still a bunch of people out there who doesn’t even understand the term ‘affiliate’ so I guess all is still good for you….;-)

Thanks for the compliment, Adam and welcome back..

Yan,

Whew, that was a close one. I mean how was I going to sell the make 1,000,000 manifesto for making money while eating chips if you tell people they are scams.

Adam

PS. Thanks for having me back I enjoy it.

To keep ourselves from getting the shaft, one should not be greedy and out for samll advantages.

you’d better respond quickly to that email. :)

haven’t yet been victimized either, but i know it’s out there. people her get text messages fairly often, claiming that they won a huge amount, preying on their wanting to believe that something wonderful has happened. and then there’s all the email going around, as well as phishing attempts.

it sucks really.

Good to see you, pal.

I believe that those that just come into contact with making money online are often the ones that are most gullible. They are either influenced by friends, seminars from gurus, newspapers or even from blogs. Combining with the well-written copy of the money making opportunities, beginners are bound to fall into the trap.

Hope Miss Gullible website could be a good resource to help the newbies from falling into the trap.

You are absolutely right about it. Though the publicity of such scams are everywhere on the internet, the majority of beginners are still falling for those get-rick-quick internet scams due to their own greediness.

Well, it takes two hands to clap.

Same thing happened to me when I was first starting out on the internet. I went from HYIP (high yield investment) to automated betting to “data entries” and filling out surveys.

Come to think of it now, I was Mr. Gullible, though I only feel for them once.

I have seen her site also, and I was stunned because she’s not only gullible, but makes bad choices all around, especially with the gambling. Her husband is either a saint or whipped beyond belief. I only hope she eventually succeeds at one of these things, otherwise they may be another of a continuing story of people living on the streets.

Anyway, good to see you around, Mitch..

Yan,

I replied to your comment on Franklin’s blog with a long and detailed explanation of my evidence against the integrity of Franklin’s competition. I do not know if he will delete the comment or not, but I saved myself a copy. If you get a chance, I would like to hear your opinion on what I have presented. I have been in contact with Eric, who was my only serious challenger, and he feels completely shafted as well. Thanks!

Reply

Yan October 11, 2008 at 10:52 pm

Hey James

I really understand how you and Eric felt about the whole thing. I was just being a little more diplomatic on his blog. Well, I don’t know him well enough to judge his credibility. I really hope it was just a misunderstanding and bad planning on his part.

Firstly, I was surprised that he threw $200 each month to the top commentator which is something unheard of and secondly, I smelled rat when he took out the widget off the sidebar.

I don’t need to count how many comments you guys had left and I’m pretty sure the two of you have been shafted. This is actually one of the newest trick to get comments that are otherwise hard to get in an ordinary way. It’s too easy to outsource artificial comments nowadays. For $5, you will get 100 comments easily on Digital Forum.

Let it be, James. There will always be a bad apple in a basket, just don’t be fool twice. Come to think of it, this discussion is so appropriate here while the subject is on ’scam’.

and i will say, that my friend Yan is definitely too good at these reviews…also these are articles that are definitely necessary for bloggers to keep themselves updated on how they can get tricked…

and what people have to do while browsing the internet is also to know more about the latest technology tools that they can afford to keep themselves safe and entertaining…i am focussing more on that in my blog…

a very relevant article for the blog beginners and those who don’t have much exposure to technologies…

Thanks for your kind words of support. I really hope that by doing this review I’m able to drive home the point and reiterate the fact that “there is no such thing as free lunch in this world.

I’ve never been a victim of a “scam” before that I can think of. I’m usually skepitcal and extra cautious of anything. Not to say I “couldn’t be scammed”, but that helps.

Miss Gullible is doing a good thing by sharing her stories as it will help other people know what to look out for.

Nice review Yan

I’ve never been scammed online because I don’t buy many ebooks and systems, but rather tools and services such as Wordtracker.

Having a background in sales helped me greatly because as I started to spend more time online googling “work at home jobs” and “free money online” I would encounter pages of sales copy filled with earnings screenshots and yellow highlighted call-to-aciton statements..

I’m all to familiar with selling to be sold easily.

I have also done a review on her site and I must admit that mine was not as comprehensive as yours, but then perhaps you had a higher payout or you are much more generous with your time than I am.

Still, it was a great review, and one would hope that it will help to gain her the readers she so yearns for.

I almost forget you do run a scam-related blog too. I’d like to see your review and hear your opinion as well. One thing is certain is that I do a review like any other reviews irregardless of how high the payout is. I write because I feel the need to tell a story.

I hope this review will bring it the traffic and increase the awareness of her blog.

Thanks, Dennis for sharing your side of story. We all grow better and wiser from each experience we have in life.

Though I’ve not been scammed once but I’ve made many mistakes in life I learned the lessons and aim not to repeat it ever again. I think at the end of the day, it all comes down to whether we are willing to let loose of our ego and accept the mistakes. Without which there is no lesson to be learned.

Good to see you again, Dennis.

You should also mention that apart from just scams, most of the stuff and the products sold on the internet never work as advertised. I mean they are not exactly a scam, but they also don’t bring in the money as advertised or claimed. Of course this will be wrapped in standard disclaimers…
