Now It’s Time To Promote Your RSS with RSSHugger

by Yan

I am not really a fan of RSS Directory, not yet, I rarely never submit my RSS feed to any directory. Am I on the right track? I don’t know, you tell me. But somehow I sold myself to the idea of using RSSHugger as one of the way to promote this little blog.

What is RSSHugger?

RSSHugger

RSSHugger is the brainchild of Collin LaHay, the guy behind Mixed Matched Art. Though it was recently Acquired for $13,000, it is not your ordinary neighborhood RSS directory. If the curiosity gets the better of you, read in part what inspired him to make this website.

RSSHugger is a website with a novel concept developed to help bloggers promote their blogs, and to help visitors discover new blogs that write about subjects that the readers are interested in. They can easily add it to their RSS readers or bookmark it. Through the power of the internet and viral marketing, RSSHugger looks to bring blog writers and blog readers closer together. It’s the kind of community you should be involved in if you are new in the world of blogosphere.

The idea is simple. You register $10 registration fee has been scraped and submit your RSS feed. If you own a blog, write an honest review or write a post about RSSHugger for a permanent place that should last for well, 10 years in exchange of a one-time fee of $20. Isn’t this one of the smartest form of viral marketing? I love the idea.

Why RSSHugger?

RSSHugger is kind of a unique way to promote and create awareness of your blog. Beside maximizing your blog’s exposure by directing traffic to your blog, you will get a good PR4 backlink which is important for Search Engine Optimization as well as increasing your new interested RSS subscribers.

What I love about it is that I could really maximize the visibility of my blog. It works in such a way that the more visitors I send, the higher I will rank on its Top 100 list. And on the basis of fair game, the Top 100 list will be reset every month to give everyone (who participates to promote RSSHugger) an even playing field. Smart, huh? Who doesn’t want to be featured on the Top 100 list?

Why do I join? and Why you should too

As I mention at the beginning of this post and I reiterate now, I’m not too fond of free directory submissions due to the fact some are just full of spams. Sorry to say that! But the fact that you need to write a review prior to being accepted into the list convinced me that this one is not for any Tom Dick and Harry. Every entry will be manually reviewed to include only genuine blog, not spam submission. With that, I give it a vote of confidence. Thanks, Colin for the creative idea.

If you think you have not done enough to promote your blog, let RSSHugger be featured on your To-Do checklist. If you have done so, I’m interested to listen to whatever feedbacks or opinions you might have on this. Have you found success using RSSHugger? Do you see an increase in your RSS subscriber?

Update: I’m glad I make it to the Top 100. A backlink from a PR4 is definitely a bonus.

I heard of RSS hugger before, but was put off by the fact that you have to blog about it before you can even submit your site and see the results.
