by Yan

Inspired by Joe from IMwithJoe.com, today I’d like to take the initiative to show my appreciation to all my readers and thank them for being such an awesome bunch of people who have participated in this blog and contributed their thoughtful comments.

Let me just quote something from Joe’s article on Reader Appreciation

It’s no secret, that blogs would not be anything without the people who chose to read them.

How true indeed! Though this blog has only been in existence for more than 3 months, it will not be what it is today without all the great people who take the time to read and comment.

Top Commentator of The Month

So without further ado, I’ll like to welcome our Top Commentator of The Month, Emma from UTOW. Please contact me to claim your reward. You deserve it, gal and thank you for being ever supportive of this blog right from the beginning.

In case if you aren’t in the know, the Top Commentator will be rewarded with a free 125×125 ads for a period of one month and it will be on-going till further notice.

Link Love of The Month

On the basis of fair game, I’ll also like to show my appreciation to the other Top 9 Commentators by giving them a link love with the article of my choice.

2. Top 10 Oldest .com Domains in the World by Colin

Oooooohhhhhh nice post Yan! And Emma…you got lucky! Ha, that’s what I get for reading so many blogs…I lost the top spot! :)

Really though, readers make the blog go round man, without them we’d have nothing to do or no reason to write. We’ve got to take time to appreciate them :)

We appreciate your appreciation Yan…and for fear of being accused of being a comment whore I must add that I like what you did with the reward for your top commentor. I was looking for some divine inspiration for a contest of my own and I think I just found it. Thanks Mate!

I would really love to see you having the ’subscribe to comment’ option on your blog. You are going to do that, aren’t you?

It is smart to give out rewards to your top commenters. It really allows people to feel like they are doing something well if they get a reward for it.

@Ultimate Blogging Experiment
Hey Franklin,

I’m subscribed to the idea that you need to make your readers feel appreciated in any possible way and that’s the reason why I ensure that I take the time to response to each of them when the time permits.

I’m glad you visit my blog. If my mind serves me well, I did visit your blog a while ago. You have a great blog, Franklin.

Hi Yan,

That’s an excellent idea to reward top commentators with a reward. It’s a first I’ve seen but knowing you, you always have great ideas for your blog.

@Peter – Well, it’s been the practice everywhere on other blogs to reward its commenters with linky love so I thought I up the reward by giving free ads to the top commenter. I hope you’ll do likewise on yours.

The readers are the life blood of any successful blog so it’s important to make them feel appreciated. I do notice that you make an effort to response to all your readers as well and you take a little step further by visiting their blog and participate. That’s why I like about you and I’m glad to be able to join your community. I think you have tons of SEO knowledge to share.

BTW, Peter; I really like your writing style and I’m just wondering if you would send across one of your article to be published here to benefit my readers. Of course, with the author’s name and link intact.

A little modification may be needed to avoid duplicate content. What do you say?

Hi Yan,
Yes I do try to reply them to show my appreciation, That’s why I thought your other post on appreciating readers will go very well with your readers. Hey you seem to have a knack of choosing the right titles and topics too.

Thanks for asking to feature my post on your blog. I’m very honored that you asked. I thought of this too but guessed you beat me to it by asking first. But I had something different in mind. I was thinking don’t feature a whole post, you write whatever text you want to introduce my post/topic and provide a link to my existing blog url. I do the same for yours. Called it a post swap if you may. That way each of us doesn’t have to re-write anything to avoid duplication hassle. That’s what I am currently doing with my blogger friends. You’d probably saw one example with the Picapp picture on Web Content. Let me know if you are agreeable.

@Peter – I’m fine with it. I’ll see what I can do over the weekend. I kind of like your link building series, speaking of which I may start with.

Oh ya, thanks for your nice compliments. I’m a bit flattered by it. Just in case you aren’t aware, English has never been my native language so at times the words doesn’t flow out of my mind so naturally.

Now that’s what I call a generous appreciation
I have seen many blogger encouraging comments on their blogs but no one is willing / cares to appreciate it. Appreciating your readers and their opinions is a great idea in my view.

Reply

Yan August 4, 2008 at 1:56 pm

@Sunil Pathak – If everyone is practicing likewise and show a little sense of appreciation, then this blogging community would surely be a better place for everyone.

Thanks for your compliments. I appreciate it and I do hope you will be back and join our community here. I’ll see you around, Sunil.

Hmm, I think this is a good way to motivate people to comment. Without comments, we cannot t interact and get opinions of your ideas, which can serve as fodder for the next post.

I may start tagging my top commentators soon, starting from next month.
