Yes! You’ve arrived at Yan’s blog.
This is the NEW (albeit, half-baked) thoushallblog.com. After much contemplation and with the help of my friend, Simon from WP Design Studio who did the background design (thanks! buddy), this is IT.
TSB has finally joined thousands of bloggers who swear by Thesis for its superb SEO benefits. Though some might choose to think otherwise.
Whatever it is, I’m pretty impressed at how fast the page loads – as if it’s on steroid.
Well, I’m not going to pitch you on why you should buy Thesis theme, but I’ve switched to Thesis on most, if not all of niche sites
And guess what?
They move up the Google ranking fairly easily and I begin to think that there is probably something about Thesis that Google loves.
Go figure!
That said, I hope to be able to find some really good designer who can help me tweak the design and bring back the “grunge” touch of the old TSB.
Anyway, this makeover signifies the return of me to the usual blogging routine. Yes, I’m almost done with whatever things that have kept me busy for the last few months.
In all sincerity, I apologize for my lack of writing here.
And for some of you who asked me about the outcome of the hub challenge I undertook last May.
I’ll let the picture speak for itself.
Mind you, only a fraction of it (20%) came from the first month (I wrote my first hub on May 12) and when the traffic from search engines increased, so did the earnings.
Probably you might think $500 for a 2-month worth of writing isn’t good enough. Think again!
I could stop writing another hub today and still be making the same amount of money from Google Adsense or even more each month. Not to mention, commissions earned from affiliate sales.
That’s pretty much what passive income is all about!
Now if you’re still on the fence, don’t worry! It’s never to late to jump onto hubwagon. The next ‘30 hubs in 30 days’ will begin this Friday, Jul 24.
Grab that piece of pie while it’s hot!
And if you want to know how I make money online with HubPages, watch this video and discover what’s the winning formula from one of the best guys in the business.
See ya on the other side.

Welcome back Yan, you have been sorely missed. May I say that perhaps it’s the lack of plugins and images that is making the blog load so fast. I also use Thesis on one of my blogs, complete with plugins and I don’t notice it loading any faster.
Still, I like what you’ve done with the look of thoushallblog, can’t wait to see the finished product.
I suppose you’re right, Sire! I have since disabled quite a few of unnecessary plugins so that could be the case.
Pretty much satisfied with what it is right now till somebody comes along and put his expertise to good use.
Yan
I’m sure someone will come along Yan. Like they say, all good things come to those who wait.
Thanks, Sire. I’ll be lurking around the forum and see if I could find someone whom I’ll outsource the design to.
I need to bring back the “grunge” look. I sorely miss it.
Hi Yan, it is very clean and quick loading. It’s going to take some getting use too. It should be a lot easier to direct the readers attention where you want it with a clean design here.
When I first seen the new look and the word ‘Thesis’ I was worried we had another site going to a ‘no comment’ strategy. I’m glad that’s not the case.
I think $500 in two months with AdSence is very impressive. I’m glad to see those niche sites working out for you.
No comment strategy? My last name is Susanto and not Conn… ;)
I love the interaction too much to disable commenting. Though the quality of comments nowadays has degraded to a worrying level.
Yan
LOL… Good one Yan (the Conn comment) :)
Congratulations with the Hub results. 30 hubs in 30 days is definitely something that everyone should be able to do it they put their mind into it.
Mikael
No offense to Mr. Conn though. I learned a thing or two from him. I just couldn’t comprehend the rationale behind it.
Well, to each his own.
Anyway, good to see ya here, Mikael. Sorry, haven’t been around your blog lately.
PS: I’m not taking the hub challenge as I’ve found yet another revenue-sharing site that Google places quite a bit of weight as well. I’m just not too fond of putting all my eggs into one basket…
No problem Yan. Luckily more and more people are visiting the blog so I am busy replying to comments :)
Conn definitely knows what he is doing. But I agree that we all have our different ways ;)
Your contents are great, no doubt about it so I won’t count that as lucky. You certainly deserve it!
I’ll be around the corner later…
Yan
Yan,
TSB is finally on Thesis…The site seems to loads much faster..as lots of features are within Thesis itself…less plugin = better and faster.
Thanks for the write up anyway..appreciate it… the design and customization is done by dedicated team and not me alone… :)
If you need any assistance, let me know ya. I will be happy to assist in optimizing a high traffic blog like TSB..take care bro….
Hey Simon
Thanks for everything! I really appreciate it and look what I have on the footer.
BTW, I’d love to be able to put up a banner of something on the right side of my header.
What do you think, bro?
Yan
Yan,
No prob..yup..i saw it..thanks for the linkback on footer…Yeah thanks for the offer..will email you once my team is done with the banner design…
Thanks again….
Yan,
Good to see you back. I wasn’t aware of the SEO power of the Thesis theme, but if you say so, then that makes it so in my eyes. You are the man and I have really enjoyed following your blog, even though I really like the last theme. I am looking forward to seeing your tweaks.
As for Hub, I am not sure how to make an Hub channel to track my earnings. I know I get these mystery clicks and figure it must be from my Hubs, but have no way of knowing. If you could straighten that out for me, I would be appreciate it.
Oh please don’t tell me you like my last theme. I love it so much but I need to do what I have to do.
I guess somehow I have to choose between user experience and my personal preference. The last theme was too heavy (with images) and it took ages to load, especially for those with slower internet connection.
Anyway, thanks for dropping by, pal. Good to see ya here too.
And if you need to track where do your clicks come from? Set up a URL channel.
Go to Adsense Setup > Channels > + Add new custom channels > and enter the url i.e hubpages.com (without “http”) and you’re good to go.
Hope it helps.
When I visited this blog today and landed on a post page, I thought “oh, this look may just be for the post pages and archives”. After reading the post I landed on, I decided to visit the front page. “Oh my God, what’s happening here”?
I clicked on this post and here I am. Ha ha ha… I think I now know what’s happening.
Thanks for this post. I had once been to Hubpages but I guess I left because I did not understand the left and right of it. I am going back…
My Uncle Che, if you don’t understand the left and right, look above you. The sky is the limit…. ;)
Is everything all right, buddy? You started with an A and have you reached the ‘Z’ yet?
Yan
Wow this site loads fast now!
About time too, lol!
Seriously though, I did like your previous theme but it was hell waiting for it to finish loading :)
And congrats on the money made from building those hub pages.
Good to see you posting again Yan.
Aha, the beauty from nowhere land. Oh please don’t remind me again. I’m still not getting over it yet… but it’s fast, isn’t it?
How are you, gal? Look like I’m not the only one who disappeared but I’m glad to see ya again.
Yan
No I didn’t disappear…. :)
But I’ve been reading your comments and I really like Sire’s themes.
(I’m sure you’ve mentioned them before, but I tend to ’switch off’ when I see things advertised, sorry!).
I think Sire has just found a new customer.
If he doesn’t mind what some of the themes are used for…
Zania, I’m sure that any use you came up with for the theme would be more than OK with me. :D
The new theme looks good even though it is unfinished. I have also heard that Thesis has SEO benefits. I must admit, I do not understand this, how could a theme impact SEO? Why would Google like Thesis better than Elegant themes for example?
I really don’t have a concrete explanation on how a theme can impact SEO benefits but it is a fact that it does.
Bear in mind that a theme is NOT just a design, but a them also determines how the content is displayed in relation to codes. Some themes will make your content more prominent to search engines than others.
Let’s read from Master Yan himself :)
I did ask myself the same question long ago when I started blogging. It takes quite a while to really grasp the architecture (HTML+CSS) the developer (Chris) has painstakingly built.
What I say matters less, but when thousands of others think likewise, it isn’t hard not to believe.
No sales pitch here. But if you can afford it, it’s ONE of the best.
Yan
I’m glad you said ‘ONE’ of the best Yan. I hate it when I see people telling everyone hot it’s THE best, because it isn’t. There are a lot of good themes out there, you just have to find the one best suited to your blog.
You know something? I said with YOU (and others) in mind. I have both FlexSqueeze and Thesis so the jury is still out.
One man’s meat is another man’s poison. Isn’t it?
Yan
I figured that you said that with me in mind Yan? So, where’s this flexsqueeze blog of yours, I’d love to check it out and leave my mark on the wall so to speak :D
It’s a simple landing page, Peter (oops). Here it is for your own amusement only – 30 Day Payday Loan, I’m afraid you can’t leave your mark there as commenting is off.
Yan
I see you used the squeeze page option Yan. Pretty good job too. I reckon I may have to give that a go.
Just wanted to stop by and say best wishes with the new theme :)
Now would be a good time to add the do follow plugin ? NO :)
stumbled
Hey John
I’m yet to decide if dofollow would be the best option. Not when I have more than 50 spammy comments each day. Perhaps when time is on my side, I’ll do so.
But in the mean time, the time I spent filtering the legit comments out of a sea of spams isn’t productive at all.
Thanks for the input, John.
Yan
Hey Yan,
Welcome back! Appreciate the comment at the site.. glad you liked the article. :)
-Mig
Thanks, buddy! It was a good wake up call for me and everyone else.
Yan
Thesis is very good but its not the best, UBD makes some awesome themes.
In order to make money you have to start somewhere. Waiting 2 months to start bringing in 500 usd is pretty good in my books. No lie, you said the passive affect will continue generating income for you. Sire knows as much as anyone I don’t like blogging for anyone but myself. I’m shared my opinion on his blog many times. I must admit seeing the 500 bucks sure changes my opinion in a hurry.
I’ve been blogging almost 2 years and haven’t made anything! I’m thankful I have a full time career.
Regarding your theme Yan it’s nice but I’m not sure if I like it better than your last one. I guess time will tell. None the less they both offer a slight uniqueness to them.
Thanks for the trackback hopefully it gets you some extra votes!
Hey Brian
My goodness! You really take the time to leave your comment on every post ‘engaged’ or you just pick them at random? How could you find the time to do so when you have a full time career?
Anyway, there is nothing wrong with blogging for yourself, what’s more important is whether you find joy (and satisfaction) in it.
Hope you to see ya on hubpages soon, Brian.
Yan
It’s actually pretty easy! I just make sure if I vote or Engage I comment! I find it helps build friends and users of blogengage!
I like to build user loyalty as we have a lot of competition in the social networking industry.
I’m just happy to see so many old bloggers such as yourself still using the service!
Did you ever see how old your account is?
2008-05-16
woot :)
Well, you did a good job in maintaining the loyalty by connecting with the users. Very few do so and of course, we do notice how serious you are about BE and we appreciate your effort for that.
Good luck, pal.
Cheers
Yan
Hey Yan, welcome to the awesome world of Thesis.
I’m glad you are back blogging also. We all get busy; being in school I really know.
Hi Yan,
Personally I like the old design better. It gives the site more “identity”. Thesis theme is everywhere nowadays @_@
Hey Yan,
I like the new look myself. It’s nice and open, and I’m betting that you’ll be populating it with other stuff as you move on. Of course, my thoughts are kind of the same as Tycoon’s above, in wondering why a theme would provide better SEO than, well, good SEO tactics within your posts.
Anyway, I like this theme; I liked the other one as well. As for the term “blogging tips”, well, I’m not in the Google top 1,000, but I am sitting at #85 on MSN, and #373 on Yahoo; guess I’ll need to address that. :-)
wondering why a theme would provide better SEO than, well, good SEO tactics within your posts?
Look at how I moved up the rank (for the first time) for the term, “blogging tips” in less than 48 hours. Often times, seeing is believing!
Of course on-page SEO is still needed with or without Thesis theme. It just makes it much easier.
Yan
Actually Yan, Sire and I have seen that new posts can easily jump into the top 10 within the first 48 hours. The trick is to see if it’s still there in another week. I’ll be watching. :-)
I have to agree with Mitch on this one.
Yup, I agree with Mitch too but ONLY for new post. You can’t easily jump into the top 10 for your blog/site “main keyword”. Not when you have more than 200 millions competing results.
But then again, Mitch is doing that study on my behalf….. ;)
Yan
I’ve been eyeing that keyword for more than a year now (it has never been past page 3 of Google). Perhaps, it’s just so coincidental but I choose to believe it’s Thesis that does the job behind the scene.
I wish I could share with you what other keyword(s) that got me into Google top ranking using Thesis. I experimented with it and that’s how I came to my own conclusion.
Again, hopefully.
No problem, Yan. I just put it into my scheduler for two Thursdays from now, so we’ll see what happens. You know I like doing studies.
I use Thesis and I allow that it has certain SEO benefits built in, but no more than you would get by using the top SEO plugins.
And we’ll know the results in two weeks! ;-)
Yup, the jury is still out (taking a two-week break). Let’s see what’s the verdict then… ;)
Hey your site’s new avatar looks cool, back here after ages, how you doin man.?
Thesis is cool and you should see many benefits from using it. Yes, there are people who would disagree and they are entitled to their own opinion.
I would like to hear more about how you change your theme and what you recommend. I have written a few posts about customizing your Thesis themes and so have many others. There are so many things way of making your site unique using Thesis and would be nice to see what you come up with.
Yan,
Long time no talk buddy. Cool you moved to thesis. Just a real quick note. There is nothing about a theme itself that can make a website or blog more SEO friendly. It’s how you understand and execute on page and off page optimization that matters. If you need help modifying the look and feel of the design I’ve got a designer for you. Just hit me up when you have time and try not to be a stranger and keep on rocking in the free world. ;-)
Congratulations on your blog makeover! Looks really clean and does load fast. :)
Hi Yan,
Thought I’d pop in quickly to talk about my mini study. I was going to wait two weeks, but I decided to check quickly today. Sorry to say, but you’re back down to #42, and 15th on Yahoo, and that’s what, five days? You got the Google bounce that many people get, but it’s back to where it’s supposed to be, I guess, for now.
If it’s any consolation, I’m only at #372 for Yahoo and not showing anywhere on Google for the same term. :-)
Thanks for the heads up, bud! I was not hoping you were right (ha ha ha)
Samuel Goldwyn once said “I’m willing to admit that I may not always be right, but I am never wrong.”
Yan
I liked the look of the old blog & hope you can get some of that back… good luck w/ getting everything back in order :)
Hahaha, Lols. Thats the quick effect of the Thesis. :) Best of luck…
Hey, nice website and a very interesting read. You should fill us in on the hubpage alternative your using sometime =) I am currently working on hitting the 500 hub marks (will take me several months) and after that I’d like to start somewhere else just to be safe.
like you said, it’s just not safe to put all your eggs in one basket. I don’t doubt hubpages will be around for a while, but in the event that it did go under or something…I’d hate to be left with no income from all the hard work.
I’m actually paranoid when it comes to long term income and worrying about where online money making is going lol =P
anyways nice website.
How many hubs did you write to get that income?
(And congrats on the blogging tips ranking! – Is there money there?)
Hi Yan,
It’s nice but somehow I kinda miss the old theme. Perhaps it will grow on me over time. I noticed your blogging tips keyword phrase is now on page 3. Perhaps you should take a look at what I’m using. I found a phenomenal backlink building.
Link Building: Taking Backlink Building To A Higher Level
Peter
Peter,
I’m not a fan of Paul & Angela’s. Too many people have abused the system that Google consider those links from profile pages worth a lot less than simple blogroll links.
Thanks for sharing it anyway.
Yan
I have to ask, was that passive income generated by hubs with niches? Or just hubs that did a review online money -esque thing? I would imagine if you made 30 niche hubs, linked 60% of them together, you might be able to drive some serious adsense traffic.
Jakob,
A big part of this business is keyword analysis. So it pretty much what your choose to write.
Don’t imagine! Take action!
Yan
Hub Pages is pretty good, I personally use Squidoo. I find it easy to work with and particularly easy to earn with. I really don’t think there is a significant difference between the two though.
Thesis themes provide a uniqueness and freshness to any blog. Even if you are using the same thesis theme , there is something different about your blog. Very useful and handy tips in getting the best out of Hubpages.
Whatever said one has to admit the fact that hubpages and Squidoo can be excellent resources to promote your blogs and sites or, even get pageranks.
Congrats! Hope you get more top rankings with the thesis theme!
Your screenshot got me to think on googleadsensegenerator.com. Anyway, good choice to start using Thesis. I’m personally in love with it.
Stephan,
You’re entitled to your belief that the screenshot was made googleadsensegenerator.com.. ;)
Yan
Hub pages is a very high traffic website that contains all types of content which was submitted by so many bloggers. With this hubpages, we can earn money through adsense, ebay, amazon etc. This article is very helpful to the newbies.
Thesis thems are indeed very nice, they can giva a nice look to the blog.
Thanks for the good post.
It’s pretty easy to make money with hubpages if you know how to do a little keyword research. Hubpages has a good pagerank, and they get ranked pretty good in google for several keywords.
Nice post. ;)
- Johnny
This is pretty cool. I see lots of people making money, but whenever I try it, I find myself giving up very quickly. I think I should give this Hubpages a try and see how it works out.
Thanks for sharing your tip.
Hey Yan,
I never thought it was possible to make money with hubpages but I just set one up today about Commission Payload. Thanks Yan I finally learnt something new :)
I have some pages in Hubpages but I am only using them for back links. I heard that I can make money with them also but never been serious about it. It’s time to make a second look.
Like Katrina, I mainly use for backlinks, but after reading this I think I am under utilising hubpages.
