Great thoughts Yan.

I would like to add a sort of synthesis of numbers 1 and 6. It may not be a deadly sin, but putting out a subscriber count out too early (like ads) may make the blogger seem desperate to grab some more.

Yeah. I remember those days of being a new blogger and how I would goof around and not update my blog on a regular basis. Updating your blog can be quite hectic and you have to get use to the idea, that if you don’t your page rankings can decrease dramatically. You have to find a routine that works best for you. Another good idea is using blog automatic post software so it will update your blog for you.

It’s true not everyone is relying to your comment, let alone reciprocating yours. Replying to all the comments is a very time-consuming effort. It’s fine when you are small but as your community grows, it becomes quite a task. No question about it.

Truth is I’m having a hard time trying to cope with all the comments reply and reciprocal commenting at the same time. I’m still returning the favor to this very day, though more selectively than before. I couldn’t be possibly returning all the favor, could I?

Anyway, thanks for dropping by and welcome to the community. It’s good to have you around and thanks for the compliment too.

Hi Yan, excellent article :) On the commenting piece, I've been delicating time doing it everyday! However, I notice that not all authors reciprocrate comments, which is fair since they probably have different priorities when it comes to marketing their site. What do you think when you start getting a lot of comments? Would it still be necessary to reciprocrate every one or will you stop returning the favour? Do you think spending too much time returning comments be an unproductive use of time? (I noticed that you do make an effort to reply every comment here, which is very commendable!) Yan - those are excellent points. I would add that not just leaving a lame comment, just to be a "comment king" or "comment queen" would help, rather leaving thoughful comments would get the visitors to visit the commenter's blog. The 7th sin is the deadliest of all! LOL! Now, even I feel bad when people don't care about their blogs and leave them uncared for! I think this is especially due to the advent of microblogging. Ever since Social networking sites started blooming, blogging surely has been having its toll! I say this because I have been a victim of microblogging sites(I still am:( Social aggregators and twitter keep me busy) Now, yes, when people start featuring too many ads on their blog, it becomes irritating!
